A male shop assistant was lucky to escape unharmed after scaring off two would be robbers with a stick after they pretended to be armed during a foiled robbery.

Just after 5am on Saturday 3rd December 2011, two males attended the 24hr Caltex Service Station situated at the corner of Beach Road and Crocker Drive, Malaga. One of the two males approached the service counter and demanded money from the till register.  The attendant told the robber to get out the store and took a stick from behind the counter to protect himself. The robber again demanded cash this time causing the attendant to swing the stick in his direction. The robber lunged at the attendant and pretended to have a weapon. This time the attendant struck him with the stick causing the robber and his accomplice, who was waiting at the door entrance, to both run out the store. Both got away in an awaiting small white sedan parked across the road, believed to be a Ford Laser hatch.
