An unsuspecting male was the victim of a cowardly attack in a night time ambush while walking home from Whitfords train station last month.

Just 15 minutes shy of midnight on Sunday the 5th of June, 2011, the victim alighted from the train in Kingsley. He crossed over Whitfords Avenue to Trailwood Drive, Woodvale when in a surprise attack two males struck him over the head from behind causing him to fall to the ground face first. The young man put up a struggle, resisting the males’ attempts to remove his bag, by rolling onto his back to retain hold of his property but he was repeatedly punched and kicked about the head and body by the attackers. Demands loaded with threats of violence were made to persuade the victim to hand over his personal belongings which he complied with for fear that the violence would escalate.  Once the pair took hold of the belongings they both ran from the scene leaving the victim to nurse swelling and bruising to his face, arms, ribs and back, and a laceration to the left side of his neck.

Detectives have released a composite image of one of the males in the hope that someone may be able to identify him.
