Detectives are hoping a ‘bright aqua cap’ may be the downfall that leads to a robbers’ identification after he threatened staff at Chicken Treat in Balcatta, at knifepoint.

Around 2.07pm on Thursday the 5th of April, 2012, the male entered the Wanneroo Road store and moved towards the front counter where he remained for a short time before  approaching the store manager who was attending to a customer in the drive through at the time.  The male brandished a large kitchen knife and thrust it above his head in a threatening manner while ordering the manager to open up the till.

The store manager’s difficulty in opening the till proved to be too much for the armed bandit who became agitated, telling him to ‘hurry up’ before reaching inside the till to remove a sum of cash.  Aware that time was running out before police arrival, the male took the cash and ran from the store through the front entrance.

Detectives have released an image of a male taken from CCTV cameras that may be able to assist with inquiries.

The male is described as:

  • Fair complexion
  • Approximately 185cms tall
  • Short blonde curly hair
  • Medium build
  • Wearing Aqua cap, sunglasses, dark coloured jacket and shorts and a white t-shirt.
