New Years Eve celebrations in Fremantle left one unsuspecting partygoer in hospital with a broken jaw.

After leaving celebrations with friends at ‘Bathers Beach’ in Fremantle at around 3.00am on New Years Day a male was walking with a friend along Marine Terrace. Keeping to themselves they continued towards South Beach, wishing others a happy new year as they walked by. As the pair neared the traffic crossing at the Fremantle Sailing Club the male’s friend stopped to talk to a group of people behind them. The male kept walking. The next thing he remembered was waking up on the ground curled up in a ball with an unknown male standing over him.

Turning around to find the victim on the ground his friend hurried over to offer assistance. An exchange of words between the victim’s friend and the unknown male took place before the male walked off.

The victim later attended hospital for his injuries and as a result underwent surgery to repair his jaw which was fractured in two places.

At the time of the incident the victim was pushing a shopping trolley with an Esky inside. He was wearing a bright orange Lacoste polo shirt and black and red shorts

The male is described as:

  • Fair skinned
  • Stocky build
  • Approximately 175cm
  • Short blonde neatly cut hair
