In an unprovoked attack a male was punched from behind and robbed while walking along Bickley Street in Beckenham, recently.

Around 10.20pm on Tuesday the 4th of October 2011, the 32 year old had been a passenger on the Perth to Armadale train line when he alighted from the train at Beckenham train station and was walking along Bickley Street when he received a telephone call from a relative.  Minutes later he was approached by a male who had alighted from the train with his friend at the same time and asked if he had a cigarette, which he declined as he didn’t smoke.  The victim continued walking and as he approached the intersection of Streatham Street the male launched at him from behind, delivering a violent blow which knocked the victim forward into the centre of the road.  As the victim fell forward his mobile fell onto the road giving the male an opportunity to grab it before running from the scene.  The victim gave chase but soon stopped when he realised he was exposing himself to further danger.

Detectives have released an image taken from transperth CCTV camera’s in the hope that the two males pictured may be able to assist with inquiries into the robbery.

  • Aged between 22 – 26 years
  • Thin build
  • Brown hair
  • Wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing, long black pants and runners.

The male was in company with a male of tanned complexion, similar age, wearing a white t-shirt
