A good neighbourly gesture toured sour when a male reacted badly to having his vehicle photographed outside a Lathlain residence.
Around 12.00pm on Monday the 17th of September 2011, the victim and his wife were in the backyard of their Goddard Street home when they heard the next door neighbours’ gate bang. Upon investigation the victim observed a male coming through the gate and when questioned he advised that he was collecting his football which had gone over the fence. Uncomfortable with the explanation the victim’s wife went to the front of house to investigate further when the male returned to his vehicle parked nearby.
Uncertain about the males reasons for being there he retrieved his mobile phone and took a photograph of the vehicles registration plate. This enraged the male who exited the vehicle yelling profanities at the victim while punching him about the head and body. While defending himself from the attack, the victim dropped his phone to the ground giving the male an opportunity to grab it and escape to his vehicle.
During the attack the victims wife tried to help her husband by pulling the male off him and running in front of the vehicle blocking its departure, stepping to the side when threats were made to run her over. The male drove from the scene at high speed and was last seen heading towards Orrong Road.
Detectives have released a composite image of the male in the hope that someone may be able to identify him.
The male is described as:
- Light complexion
- Slim to medium build
- Curly dark hair
- 19 – 21 years
- Unshaven
- Approximately 180cm
- Wearing a blue and white cap with dark writing on the front, a light coloured t-shirt and dark shorts.
