At approximately 8.30pm on Monday 1 August 2016, a man entered a supermarket at a shopping centre on Marmion Avenue Hillarys.
The man walked through the store and selected numerous items and attended at the self-service checkout. There he scanned all of the items and attempted to pay for them using a credit card. The card did not go though so a staff member, at the request of the man, removed some items to reduce the total bill. The staff member assisted another customer and the man tried the card again which did not go through. The man walked out of the store with the items before the staff member realised.
The items stolen included batteries, meat and other food items to a total of nearly $300.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.
The man is described as:
- Light skinned
- 18 -25 years of age
- Medium build
- Short dark wavy hair
- Wearing a baseball cap, white long sleeve top, cream long pants and black runners with white soles.
