Snatch and grab went to new heights when the occupant of a silver hatchback stole a handbag from a shopper unloading her groceries in the Riverton Forum car park while remaining in his vehicle.
Around 12.20pm on Saturday the 13th of August 2011, the woman had been shopping with her husband at Stocklands Riverton on High Road in Parkwood, and was about to place her groceries in the boot of her vehicle, when the driver of a Ford ‘Ka’ drove directly past her, ripping her handbag from her shoulder. The male put the handbag inside his vehicle and drove off at high speed, narrowly missing a head on collision with another vehicle while exiting the car park.
Following the theft the victim’s bank cards were fraudulently presented at three separate locations, including a fast food outlet, a games store and a chemist, where CCTV footage was obtained of a woman in possession of the cards.
CCTV footage also shows a vehicle in the vicinity of a large recycle wheelie bin situated at a business on Wittenberg Drive in Canning Vale, where the stolen property had been dumped.
The female is described as:
- Early to mid twenties
- Fair complexion
- Approximately 170 – 175cm
- Medium build
- Long blonde hair
- Wearing a dark coloured cap, a fur lined jacket and black tracksuit pants.
