A minute of opportunity was all it too for a thief to steal a lady’s handbag from her car in Roleystone recently.

During a 1 minute period from 1.30pm to 1.31pm on Wednesday the 19th of October, 2011, the lady was loading some items into her car in a car park on Soldiers Road, Roleystone. Realising she had forgotten something she placed her handbag on the front seat and ran back into her office to grab the item. Unbeknownst to the lady, someone must have been watching her as no sooner had she left the car someone broke in. Returning about 1 minute later the lady discovered her handbag was gone. It appears the offender used a screw driver to force the window open. Inside the lady’s handbag was her wallet containing a sum of money and key/credit cards and cosmetics. Unfortunately the 1 minute grab cost the lady just under $1000.

Later that same day a female attempted to use the stolen credit card at an ATM in Forrestfield. The female was captured on CCTV appearing to get frustrated with the ATM. She walked away only to return a short time later for another attempt.

Police have released a CCTV image of a female who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

The female is described as:

  • Tanned complexion
  • Slim build
  • Dark hair pulled back into a bun
  • Wearing black tracksuit pants and a black t-shirt with white writing across the front.

If you know the identity of this female or have information about this offence, make a report online or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, where all calls are strictly confidential, and rewards are offered.  Please quote Reference Number 5981.
