The stealing of machetes was thwarted by an unsuspecting customer at a Pinjarra hardware store.
At about midday on Thursday the 29th of June 2014 at Tuckey’s Mitre 10 in George Street, a male has selected, two tomahawks and two machetes from the store and removed the packaging. The male concealed the tomahawks on him and went to the outside display area, where he threw the machetes over the side fence in an attempt to steal them. After leaving the store, he went to walk over to where he threw the items, but was disturbed by a customer, so walked off without them.
Police have released a CCTV image of a male who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.
The male is described as:
- Dark Skinned
- 165 to 175cm tall
- Medium build with a prominent belly
- Short dark hair
- Late 20`s early 30`s,
- Wearing a grey hooded top, a white T-shirt with horizontal thin stripes, black trousers and black shoes.
