One of Australia’s most wanted fugitives has been arrested in Kalgoorlie, after a tip off to Crime Stoppers from a member of the public.

The fugitive had moved interstate to WA to elude police from his home in Queensland, making him one of the most difficult in Australia to track down.

Kenneth Cook, 47, allegedly committed numerous sexual assaults in Central Queensland between 1996 and 2002.

The call to Crime Stoppers came after the resident identified Cook after seeing him on a national ‘most wanted’ list prepared by Crime Stoppers and police in all jurisdictions around the nation.

Cook was one of 20 fugitives featured in Operation Roam, a national Crime Stoppers campaign, in August 2015. The fugitives on the list were suspected of serious crimes such as murder, assault, armed robbery, rape and drug trafficking.

A total of 11 of these elusive persons have been reported by members of the public, and have been arrested subsequently, which is an excellent result.
