What is graffiti?

Graffiti vandalism is a criminal offence in Western Australia.

It’s defined as the illegal activity of defacing private or public property without the permission of the owner.

Graffiti is not art. It’s very different from urban art, which is legal work where the property owner has given the artist their consent for them to mark a surface for some sort of creative, marketing or other purpose.
