Nick Stagg, Partner at Lavan Legal and Chairman of Crime Stoppers WA is delighted to welcome Vince Hughes as the Crime Stoppers WA new Chief Executive Officer.

Vince has broad experience that positions him well for this role including senior public sector roles at the Public Sector Commission, WA Police, Corruption and Crime Commission and the National Crime Authority. Prior to this he was a police officer in the Republic of Ireland.

Vince has published papers in the areas of knowledge management and intelligence. He is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor with the University of New England and a former Adjunct Associate Professor with Edith Cowan University and the University of WA.

“I’m delighted to take on the role of strengthening the Crime Stoppers brand and continuing Kim Harrison’s great work. I believe that the community is always willing to assist police to solve crimes. I’m also a great believer that no crime is committed in secret and somebody knows or suspects the perpetrator,” said Dr Hughes.

Vince’s goal is to build on the positive results achieved during Kim Harrison’s 2½ years as CEO, which included:

  • Initiating a world-first specialised online drug report form.
  • An average of 6 out of 10 contacts from the public were converted into actionable police intelligence in 2016, indicating the quality of information being received from the community and the trust it has in the Crime Stoppers brand.
  • Dob in a Dealer campaign in 2016 which increased drug reports in targeted areas by 62%.
  • Receipt of several national and international media and web awards during 2014-16.

Making a report to Crime Stoppers is easy and completely confidential. Every piece of information that people provide can assist the police in solving crimes.

“Your information is never too old. If you have information about any crime, please do the decent thing and report it to Crime Stoppers” said Vince Hughes.
