Police are keen to locate a male who is responsible for a series of armed robberies at two bottle shops in the northern suburbs.

The first incident occurred at approximately 7.00pm on Saturday the 24th of August 2013, where the male entered a bottle shop in the Nowergup area armed with a small axe. He threatened staff with the axe whilst demanding money. Fearing for their safety, one of the staff handed over cash from the till, placing it in a duffle bag that the male had brought with him. The male then ran from the store with the cash and was last seen heading along Wanneroo Road on foot.

The second incident occurred at approximately 7.45pm on Monday the 16th of September 2013, at a bottle shop in Balcatta. Armed with an axe the male again threatened staff whilst demanding money. After receiving a quantity of cash from the till and placing it in his duffle bag he ran from the store, grabbing a bottle of spirits off the shelf as he left. He was last seen heading in the direction of Main Street.

The third incident occurred at approximately 7.50pm on Wednesday the 25th of September 2013, at the same bottle shop in Balcatta. The male used the same routine of threatening staff with an axe whilst demanding cash from the till.

Police have released a CCTV image of a male who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.  

The male is described as:

  • 165cms
  • Stocky build
  • Wearing loose fitting black tracksuit pants, a black hooded jumper with a white hood, a black balaclava and white ‘skater’ style shoes.
  • Carrying a black duffle bag.
