Detectives from the Arson Squad’s Strike Force Vulcan are seeking the public’s assistance with their investigation into a fire in Casuarina on Sunday 22 January 2017.

 

At about 4pm, a fire started in the bush/scrub area alongside Casuarina Road, approximately 200m south of Mortimer Road Casuarina.  The fire spread and caused damage to around eight hectares of land in the area.  Fortunately, at the time of the fire, the wind was blowing the fire away from homes while officers from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire.

 

The fire is being treated as suspicious by Strike Force Vulcan investigators.

 

Anyone who was in the area between 3pm and 6pm who may have seen any suspicious person, vehicles or activity, or has any information regarding these fires is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au. Rewards of up to $50,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist.
