A taxi driver was punched by a passenger inside his own taxi.

On Wednesday the 26th of November 2014 at approximately 1.30am, a taxi driver dropped off one of his two passengers at address in Osborne Park. The rear seat passenger has then been asked to be taken to Alexander Heights. 

The taxi driver has asked the passenger for payment in advance to which the passenger has replied with a verbal barrage before reaching across from the rear of the taxi and punching the driver to the face. The passenger then alighted from the vehicle and ran off.

Police have released a CCTV image of a male who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.   

The male is described as:

  • Fair skinned
  • Approx. 25 years of age
  • Slim build
  • Short cropped light coloured hair
  • Spoke with a broad accent (Possibly Irish).
  • Wearing a white polo shirt with logos on front ’75’ and ‘DNM’.
