At approximately 9.20am on Thursday 25 February 2016, the male victim, aged 83 years, finished his shopping and returned to his vehicle which was parked in the rear car park of Coles Supermarket.

 

The victim went to the boot of his car and began to load his shopping, when he was approached by a man. The man shook the victim’s hand and then pushed him backwards against the car. The victim felt grabbing at the left side of his trouser pocket and then saw the man trying to unclip a velcro fastener of his pocket in order to steal his wallet.

The victim pushed the man away and started to shout at the male. The man then walked away heading towards the beach.  A second man was seen in the vicinity of the incident in company with the other man earlier in the morning.

Police have released CCTV images of two men who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

The first man is described as:

  • Dark skinned
  • 20 -25 years of age
  • Approximately 185cm tall
  • Thin build
  • Short curly dark hair
  • Wearing a brown T-shirt, dark brown trousers and boots.

The second man is described as:

  • 22-27 years of age
  • Approximately 175cm tall
  • Medium build

Wearing a white shirt under a black top, dark long pants and shoes.
