A short trip to City West Perth turned into an expensive affair when a man’s car was broken into and his credit cards stolen and used throughout the Perth area, racking up over $400 worth of bills.

A man parked his car at the City West Shopping Centre car park at about 2.00pm on Monday the 25th February 2013 and went shopping. He returned to his car a little over an hour later to find his car window smashed and his wallet missing.

Over the next two hours, a male used the stolen cards several times, starting at Harbourtown West Perth, then catching a taxi to Subiaco, making a number of transactions at a grocery store there, then finishing up in Belmont to use the stolen cards one last time in another grocery store.

Police have released a CCTV image of a male who they believe can assist them with their inquiries.

The male is described as:

  • Fair skinned
  • Blonde hair
  • Goatie beard
  • Medium to large build
  • Wearing black jeans and a blue t shirt
  • Carrying a black back pack
