At approximately 3.15pm on Sunday 21st of February 2016, the male victim was walking east along Goderich Street, East Perth pushing a bicycle. A man approached the victim from the opposite direction. An altercation occurred between the two males with the man grabbing a nearby tree branch and continually striking the victim with it. He then kicked the victim to the head before running away in a westerly direction. As a result of the assault, the victim received a compound fracture to his elbow and deep cuts to his scalp and face. Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries. The man is described as:
- Dark skinned
- Solid build
- Shaved head
- 25-35 years of age
