Detectives are on the hunt for the man responsible for a terrifying sexual attack against a young woman who was forcibly restrained and indecently assaulted in East Victoria Park during the early hours of Wednesday the 25th of January 2012.

The woman was walking north east along Duncan Street in the direction of the Victoria Park Train Station when she heard noises coming from behind.  As she turned to look she was grabbed from behind, prevented from screaming by the hand which smothered her mouth and indecently assaulted.  Finding the opportunity to call for help the woman screamed triggering the male to flee down Sunbury Road.

Detectives have released an image of a male in the hope that someone may be able to assist with his identity. 

The male is described as: 

  • Olive complexion
  • 24 – 28 years
  • Messy dark hair
  • Solid build
  • Dark eyes
  • Acne on the face and chin
  • Approximately 182cm
  • Wearing black long shorts and a dark blue and black checked flannelette jacket.
