At around 11.45pm on Wednesday 28 September 2016, a woman was on way home and entered her residential street. As she approached the gate entrance to her complex, she noticed a man near the entrance. The woman stopped her car near the man and the man asked her to open the gate to allow him entry.

The woman did not recognise the man so she refused to open the gate for him. The man became aggressive and kicked the car window. The woman accidentally unlocked her car doors. The man opened the driver’s side door of the vehicle and tried to reach the victim’s handbag which was on the passenger seat. The woman resisted and the man dragged the woman out of vehicle and pinned her to the ground telling her if she screamed he would kill her.

The man took the woman’s hand bag which contained a purse and an amount of cash and ran away.

The woman sustained scratches from being dragged out of the car.

The man is described as:

  • Dark skinned
  • 18-25 years of age
  • Approximately 160-170cm tall
  • Medium build
  • Wearing a black hoody and black long pants.
