A robber’s day went from bad to worse when he was caught with his hand in the till at McDonalds Family Restaurant on the corner of Yirrigan Drive and Mirrabooka Avenue in Mirrabooka.
Around 5.00am on Friday the 26th of August 2011, while staff were busy working, an intruder entered and made his way to the registers at the front service area. He was spotted by a staff member from whom he demanded money. She called her colleague, and the male shouted at her to shut up before smothering her mouth with his hand, and pushing her to the ground, punching and kicking her in the back. The male demanded cash from the victim and the other male staff member who had joined her, threatening to violence if they did not comply. A staff member arriving to start work startled the male causing him to force open the locked front door and run from the building.
The male ran out of the store and demanded the car keys from another staff member arriving for work, the activation of an immobiliser foiling the theft with the male giving up and running from the scene.
Detectives would like to talk to the male pictured in the hope he can assist with inquiries.
