At about 9:20 pm on Saturday 24 October 2015, a young woman was walking in an easterly direction along The Crescent, Midland.

As the woman approached the intersection of The Crescent and Lloyd Street, she saw a man walking towards her. As the victim and man crossed paths, the man grabbed her handbag without warning and tried to pull it off her shoulder.

The woman fought against the man and kept a hold of her handbag however the force of the struggle caused her to fall to ground.

Whilst on the ground, the man continued his attempts to forcibly remove her handbag from her shoulder. The man assaulted the woman before fleeing on foot without the handbag, leaving the woman lying on the roadway.

Police have released an image of the woman’s handbag.

The man is described as:

  • Dark skinned
  • 20 – 25 years of age
  • Thin build
  • 175-180 cm tall
  • Short curly brown hair
  • Goatee beard

Wearing white three quarter length shorts and running shoes.
