At approximately 2.30pm on Saturday 31 December 2016, a man entered a clothing store at a shopping centre in Cannington.
The man selected a jacket from the racks and asked am employee if he could try it on. After being told he could, the man ran from the store without paying for the jacket.
The coat hanger and the security tag were located on the footbridge over Albany Highway a short time later by a member of the public and was returned to the store.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe can assist them with their enquiries.
