Crime Stoppers Week ran from 1620 February and involved an array of community-focused activities that were designed to engage the public.

A special marquee was set up in the Murray St Mall, which was used as a base each day for volunteers and staff to engage the public about the important role Crime Stoppers plays in the community and encourage them to sign up to a Crime Stoppers newsletter.

Also featured was a Constable Care puppet show designed to educate children on the three important numbers they should call for help. The presenters showed in an entertaining way how the audience could call 000 for emergencies, 131 444 for police assistance and 1800 333 000 to report criminal behaviour.

Every day during the week The West Australian published feature articles on the role of Crime Stoppers and on the most common crimes such as drug use, arson, burglary and vehicle theft, as well as how to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

The launch of Crime Stoppers Week on 16 February also marked National Crime Stoppers Day and the celebration of Crime Stoppers WA’s 20th anniversary of serving the WA community.
